| In general, our classroom policy is that if you have not
finished your daily work in class, then it is brought home for
completion. Some assignments are "in-class" assignments and need to
be completed on time within the classroom. In the case of visual
arts assignments, we have our lesson and begin our project on a day
1 and it is due the following day 1. Students are welcome to bring
their artwork home and complete it during this week between classes.
A rule of thumb to help you decide how much homework your child
should be doing, is to take your child's grade and multiply it by 10
minutes. For grade four this would be 40 minutes each weekday
evening. Included in this 40 minutes is our 20 minutes of nightly
reading. After that, any work not completed in class should be
finished. If your child does not have any work from class I
recommend breaking this time down into the following activities...
- 20 minutes of nightly reading
- 10 minutes of math fact practice
(adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing)
- 10 minutes of recorder practice and/or review of our spelling
words

from our classroom newsletter.
